Missions, jobs and tasks are offered by the buildings and can be done aside from the main story. Their completion will mostly be rewarded by energy crystals or rating points, but they can also make the player lose some of his rating points if the mission was failed. There actually is no other way to lose his rating points than for failed missions.

The most common missions are infopack deliveries. It's a system of communication between bases, which was introduced in one of the earlier missions (Rock Sector: Main base: Mission 8). While there were only warriors and traders before, a new type of mechminds was born - the couriers. They deliver such infopacks from one building to another and develop themselves by this way.

Mission types (A.I.M. 2)Edit

The mission system changed in the second game. Many buildings offer missions, sometimes more than one at once, and the player can accept or decline them. Declined missions will disappear instantly from the list while accepting a mission will let disappear the other ones, as only one mission can be active at once.

Moving into another sector will instantly fail the mission. The player can decline an ongoing mission anytime inside a base which also results in failing the mission. Failing a mission results in losing courier ratingUnique missions can't be failed or declined.

Anyway, the missions are showing up at random times and have random rewards, but the structure of them stay the same and the missions are always restricted to the current sector, where it was offered in. The reward is a random amount of energy crystals, but the harder the mission is, the higher the reward usually. The following mission titles always come up with the same task, some of them limited with a random amount of hours:

Bring the enemy to resetEdit

A random existing mechmind will be marked on the map when accepting this mission. He should be destroyed and delivered to the base where the mission was accepted for reset.

Hard difficulty, very big reward.
