Apperantly the Highlands Sector (also called the Hills) is about as close as you can get to the Creators' mother planet, climate-wise. There are a lot of plants and fresh water, and the surface is rather even, without major mountains or pits. The contour field can be seen almost all along the sector perimeter.
Clans that inhabit this sector[]
This is the home of very strong clans. The First Ones, who are one of the strongest of the mechminds, have their main base located here. You may also run into the Seekers, Restrictors and the Carriers.
All the Free Ones who stayed in this sector are very good fighters who have the ability to resist the warriors of the clan on their own. So, before shooting anything in the Highlands Sector, give it a second thought.

Trivia[]
- Clusters of smaller islands in the eastern drainage basin/river delta bear a remarkable resemblance to those of the Åland, Finland. The former might've gotten inspiration from the latter;
- In first game, there are no Production units/Extracting systems;
- In A.I.M. Highlands Sector Half-stock plant is using an Manufacturing plant building model;
- There's a large unused area in Highlands Sector that is mostly filled with water. Shores in this area have rough sharp shapes which indicates that making this area accessible for player never gained support after level design was complete;
- In sector's Southern area, behind the contour field there is an strange red square on the minimap that however doesn't exist on the real physical map;
- On the largest island in Southwest there's a name 'BEDLAM' written on the landscape. It's a signature of one of the developers at SkyRiver Studios called Pavel (Bedlam) Mukhamedzyanov. He was responsible for the textures and map design.
